Miss Moss DIY Kits

Hi, we're so mossed to see you here! Below are instructions on how to make moss art with your Miss Moss DIY Kit.

STEP 1 - PREP YOUR AREA!

🌿 Your workspace will get mossy! While the moss is cleaned by our suppliers, there will still be bits of earth and pine needles. Cover the surface you'll be working on with a large sheet of paper or plastic cloth. Avoid using a fabric as it can get stained (see next tip)

🌿 Preserved reindeer moss is coloured using food dyes, which can stain your fingers or surfaces if it comes into contact with liquids. (Optional) Have a pair of gloves handy if you want to avoid getting your fingers or nails stained. No gloves? Stains on hands will go away after a few washes.

STEP 2 - PREP YOUR SUPPLIES!

🌿 Unwrap the frame and remove the paper and plastic inserts

🌿 Before re-assembling the frame, follow the instructions in its insert. Depending on where you place the plastic border, you can choose to make your moss appear to stick out of the frame or tucked in more. Once decided, you can re-assemble the frame

🌿 Prep the glue by following the instructions on the bottle. You can use a hot glue gun if you prefer. Be sure to follow the safety instructions provided with your glue gun

🌿 Open the moss bags and place some moss on the table for easy access

STEP 3 - LET'S GET MOSSY!

🌿 Make sure your frame is placed in the correct position with the flap in the back pointing downwards. This is to ensure that you are done making art, the frame can be placed on a table or hung by the hook. We've definitely mossed this step up before!

🌿 Start adding glue to the brown surface and stick some moss on top

🌿 Firmly press the moss down so it fully comes into contact with the glue. If you didn't pour enough liquid glue, remove the moss and apply more glue to ensure the moss will stick when dry

🌿 Continue adding glue and moss as you create your art until the piece is fully decorated

STEP 4 - TIME TO PRETTIFY! (OPTIONAL)

🌸 Open the extra bag with dried flowers and place them in different configurations around your piece to see how they look before adding the glue

🌸 Use as many or as little of the flowers as you like. You're the boss of this moss!

🌸 Want to mossify some more? Go foraging for additional décor such as fallen mini pine cones, acorns, sticks, or bark if you like. Be sure to forage sustainably so as not to damage any living plants in the process such as by pulling bark off a living tree

STEP 5 - QUALITY CHECK!

🌸 After completing your piece, allow it time to dry to make sure it everything remains in place. If using liquid glue, you can press everything down again while being careful not to break the dried flowers

🌸 Once the glue is dry, flip the frame over and give it a light shake, allowing any loose moss or décor to fall out. Gently check between the moss to make sure there are no gaps. Fill in any gaps with more moss or décor
