Hi! I'm Maya Chivi, the artist and founder behind Miss Moss. My journey with preserved moss began when my husband (now aptly nicknamed Mr. Moss) and I were searching for a way to bring more nature into our home. A living wall was our original dream—but between my nonexistent green thumb and our time spent away from home, it was quickly ruled out.
That’s when I discovered preserved moss: lush, long-lasting, and a sustainable alternative to faux plastic plants. Naturally, it was time to get mossy!
After successfully gluing moss to wood, I stocked up at a local nursery, went foraging for fallen logs, and found my first dried flower supplier in Ukraine on Etsy (hello, strawflowers!).
With my trusty mini glue gun in hand, I pieced together my very first moss wall. That original piece still hangs in our home, and I'm excited to share it with you as a fine art print.

The response to that original artwork encouraged me to keep creating. At the time, I was navigating a stressful period, and the process of foraging and creating was calming and therapeutic. By the end of 2023, I began selling at local markets and sourcing flowers from nearby farms to reduce my carbon footprint.
Every Miss Moss piece is completely unique, featuring a variety of preserved mosses, wood, pine cones, and dried flowers. Seeing the finished pieces and how happy they make kids and adults alike fills me with joy and reminds me how simple it can be to invite nature into our spaces, no maintenance required.
Watching Miss Moss grow and find its way into your homes and spaces has been incredibly meaningful. In just a few years, I’ve created over seventy original moss walls and continue to sell out.
